You said a bad word

The 6 and a half year old boy said a bad word yesterday. Starts with an ‘s’. Ends with a ‘t’. You can figure out the rest.

When asked about why he said it, he shrugged and said “I don’t know”.

When asked where he learned the word or who taught him the word, he cautiously said ‘you guys’.

“Uh, what do you mean? Me and your mother. When?”.
“Well, mom says it when she drops something. And, actually, I’ve never heard you say it dad”.

That’s my boy. 🙂

Bed time story: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

With a desire to read more colorful, classic, longer chapter stories to the 5yr old boy, I scrolled through the free selection available for the iPad and found The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

So, we’ve all grown up with the movie I’m sure. Seen it dozens of times. Always on TV over Easter weekend at Gradma’s house (for whatever reason). Hide your head when the flying monkeys come down. Cheer when the Wicked Witch takes a bath. But it ain’t nothing like the book. Would it be scary? Is it too much for the kids to hear? Nope.

Perfect. What a joy to read so far. I’ll try to make notes as we go and some brief comparisons of what makes the book a great selection to read. How fun.

Tooth fairy cometh

The boy says, daddy, I there are lots of tooth fairies that travel around at night. That’s a lot of places to visit every night and he’s got to sleep at some point. So there is not just one tooth fairy.
